This plaque is in center square York, Pa where the tavern was.
The Contentinal Congress was held across the street in 1776. There are letters or correspondence between Baltzer Spangler Jr and George Washington at that time. John Hancock was in York Town as was John Adams during the days of Congress in York Town.
Something of importance about Baltzer Spangler Sr, his old stone house was still standing until about the middle of the 1960's then the bypass went in, nothing like progress!!

This is a poster of the Trinity Church across the street.
Trinty Reformed Church is the church that the early Spenglers attended. During the Revolutinary War the Continental Congress was in York many of those from Philadelphia ( including John Adams ) went to church here. Not speaking the German Language but still attending the services.

I was born two blocks from this place, it was a cigar store then. (Wooden Indian out front) When they were going to tear it down the Historical Soc saw that it was an important place, so here it is for us to see
